Here's what we've been up to the past week or so... Gary & I have been having some fun dressing up before Halloween. Two weeks ago we had a birthday party that was a gangster party. Totally fun to dress up but unfortunately I got sick. Went home early & ended up having the flu. Not a fun way to spend a party night while all your friends/hubby are out having fun.
But it was fun to dress up, at least for a bit...
Then this past weekend we dressed up for our neighbors Halloween party. We dressed up as two characters from the Halloween scene in the Karate Kid movie. Totally hilarious. No one knew who I was all night long with short blonde hair & face makeup. Gary's costume was a big shower. You can't see the shower head up top in the photo but it was definitely a hit.
It was a fun night. I felt like I could have gone anywhere without being known!! ha ha
Two weeks ago I got rear ended on the way home from shopping with Maeve. The lady slammed into our Traverse when her dog jumped onto her lap, her foot slipped off the brake & she went to reapply her foot & it hit the gas. Although she hit us pretty hard, we were both just fine. So that was good. Now our car is at the dealership getting fixed so we have a rental. A shiny robin egg blue minivan!! I hate it {I have always said I would NEVER drive a minivan} but the kids just LOVE it!
I get it, totally fun being able to push a button & the door closes for you, tons of space, but I told them not to get used to it. We are getting our SUV back very soon! For some reason it is just not for me & I have tons of friends that swear by them & could not live without them. When we were younger my sister & I begged for a minivan. My mom finally caved & ended up trading it in after just 9 months! A minivan is not in our family's future.
Only three short days of school this week. Our chicks are very excited for the upcoming Halloween weekend. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates & we can actually have our party outside for once!
T-minus 5 days til candy GALORE!!! xoxo

Just a few days after Maeve's trip to the orchard we took the girls to a different orchard to pick apples together. It was great outside, very sunny & cool. Aunt Katie & baby Sloane joined us for the fun. Once the girls each got an apple to eat, they were ready to help pick.
We picked about 30 lbs of cortland apples {some for Grandma Jean} & the girls each ate a few apples while we were there. Gary was WAY up in the trees trying to get the big, red ones for us.
A ladder may have helped, but we got them!
Once Sloane woke up we added her to the photos. Her 1st trip to the apple orchard!
The girls love her so much. It is so fun to have a baby around again. Her goofy little personality makes us all laugh & smile. She's growing so fast!
We'll be cooking with & eating apples for quite some time. We've been eating these little apple turnover like things that Grandma Betty shared with us. The girls LOVE them.
We're hoping to visit a pumpkin farm this weekend & potentially a corn maze. We'll see if the weather cooperates, I think the chicks would have fun in a corn maze together. This is the first year that none of them are going to a pumpkin farm with their classes. Perfect time for our family to plan a visit. Halloween will be here before we know it.

Maeve had her 1st field trip last week. She and her class went to the apple orchard. During the week I went in an helped the class make applesauce in class & even taste tested all the different colored apples. The red ones are her favorite. She was so excited for the trip, woke up every day asking  "Mommy, is today my field trip?" Finally the day arrived.. it was cold and rainy, but she didn't care!
Her class all wore these funny red rain suits to keep them dry...
I wish I had taken a photo of the entire class, they were all so cute in their rain gear. All 25 of them!
Once we got out to the orchard the kids were each given a little bag to put the apples in. Maeve had zero interest in picking apples. All she wanted to do was eat! Not surprised!
We managed to fill her bag in between eating... she was only supposed to eat one. She did not follow the rules. We also got to walk through their small zoo at the orchard. We saw alpacas, buffalo, pigs, baby bunnies, chickens, goats, etc. The baby bunnies were by far her favorite. They were pretty adorable.
Totally a fun day even though it was raining. I guess better that than cancelling the trip all together. We enjoyed our time together. I can always do without a bus ride {they make me so sick} but it was great to see/hear her giggling with her friends. She LOVES school & that makes us happy. xo
