After weeks of waiting, yesterday was {finally}
Marin's 1st Communion day!
Marin's 1st Communion day!
She looked so darn cute! My mom bought her dress & it was so cute. Fit her perfectly & as soon as she put it on she felt pretty special. Her request was to have her hair done in a tight, high bun & it looked adorable on her. Our neighbor/friend Wendy did it for her & she did a great job, Marin was so pleased. She even got a little blush on her cheeks & lip gloss too... very fancy!!! She wore her new cross necklace from Aunt Katie & Uncle Mike as well as new cross earrings that we gave her in the morning.
Church was at 4pm. She said she was a little nervous but not too bad. I think she was most anxious for the wine. It was cute. She was also one of a few kids that were chosen to set the table before communion. Gary & I carried a cloth down the isle with her & she did it wonderfully. It was such a proud moment for her. When it came time for her to receiver her communion she did great & was definitely all smiles. All together there were 44 kids that received communion during her mass. Each child decorated a flag & they hung on the end of all the church pews. Marin's topic that she was to illustrate on her flag was "heaven." I think she did a pretty good job...
Her great friend/neighbor Aubrey also received her 1st communion during the Saturday afternoon mass as well. They were so excited to be all dressed up & going through it together. After church they took a big group photo together {which we will have to order through the photographer} and then we headed home to celebrate with family & friends... but not before a few photos. Here she is with her god parents & baby Sloane {due tomorrow!!!}.
It was quite windy & pretty chilly so we didn't take too many. I am not sure I even took a photo of her entire dress w/o cutting off her legs!! And there was NO way we were going to get Margaux to stand outside to take a photo. She was WAY too cold... so we took a family of three photo with Marin. Love her to pieces, she just looked so cute & did so well.
She requested that we have {her favorite} tacos for dinner, so that's what we prepared.
Tacos, rice, black beans, tons of appetizers & a giant, yummy cake!
After dinner & cake she opened a few other gifts & the girls were ready to run to play with their friends. I know Marin was very thankful for all of her visitors & gifts. It was a very special day for her. You'll see her favorite gift pictured on her face below... a pair of "fake" black glasses that I found while shopping for her new earrings. She was so happy & has not taken them off since. She looks hilarious in them but she couldn't be happier. I knew they'd be a hit because all three girls love to wear my mom's reading glasses when they get the chance. Here she is with her friend Rylie, Grandma Betty & grandma/grandpa Brown.
Hard to believe it's all over & done with after all the hard work & prep leading up to it. {Practices, retreats, etc.} Our little holy Marin. She had a pretty awesome & very memorable day!
We love you Marin! xoxo
